Cambodians are among these "water-deprived" people even though their country is submerged by the abundant monsoon rains for nearly six months each year. Cities have running water, but it is not drinkable. In the countryside, they have only rivers, streams, and buffalo ponds to draw water from. Hence the urgent need to drill wells, develop reservoirs, or restore the temple moats, abandoned for decades, or even centuries.
